Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage patients quickly and accurately, prioritizing care based on clinical need
- Assess and monitor patient condition, recognizing changes and responding appropriately
- Collaborate closely with ER physicians, mid-level providers, and allied health staff to coordinate care
- Provide direct emergency patient care including IV therapy and life support interventions
- Communicate effectively with patients and families to explain care plans and provide compassionate support
- Supervise and give direction to ED techs, registration staff, and allied personnel to maintain smooth operations
- Document assessments, treatments, and outcomes thoroughly and promptly
- Operate and maintain manual and electronic medical equipment safely and competently
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN license (required)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience (required)
- BLS and ACLS required; PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and Bachelor of Nursing preferred
- Demonstrated ability in triage, patient assessment, IV skills, and emergency patient care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, plus basic computer proficiency
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
- Bachelor of Nursing degree (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures
- Triage skills and rapid, accurate patient assessment
- IV insertion and management
- Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) knowledge
- PALS, TNCC, ENPC familiarity
- Operation of manual and electronic medical equipment
- Basic computer skills for documentation and charting
- Leadership, clear communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
