Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the surgical services team to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care
• Oversee circulating RN activities and ensure consistent adherence to clinical standards
• Identify operational challenges in the surgical department and implement practical short-term and long-term solutions
• Delegate duties effectively while maintaining efficient standards of operations and patient safety
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to optimize patient flow
• Support and mentor staff, fostering professional development and strong teamwork
• Ensure compliance with licensing and certification requirements and hospital policies
• Monitor post-anesthesia care practices and coordinate improvements when needed
• Maintain composure in emergencies and lead immediate, organized responses

Qualifications

• Current California RN license (required)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Bachelor degree or equivalent (required)
• Minimum 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
• CNOR certification preferred
• One year post-anesthesia care experience preferred
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
• Strong written and oral English skills

Education

• Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor degree or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Surgical services management with a focus on safe, efficient OR operations
• Strong supervision and delegation skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve problems in the surgical department
• Patient-centered care and familiarity with perioperative and post-anesthesia practices
• Calm decision-making and effective emergency response under pressure
• Excellent communication and collaboration across physicians, staff, and ancillary departments
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including periods of standing, walking, and moderate lifting
