Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver primary nursing care to patients in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit and step-down ICU areas
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpret telemetry strips to identify and escalate changes in patient status
- Administer medications and manage medication dispensing using Pyxis
- Provide respiratory support including BIPAP management as indicated
- Perform point-of-care testing such as fingerstick blood sugars and respond appropriately
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech charting
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
- Float to other acute units as needed, providing skilled nursing across Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU and ER settings
Qualifications
- Active RN license — candidates must have or obtain a Hawaii RN license by the start of the assignment (apply upon acceptance if not currently licensed)
- At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
- Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
- Current PALS preferred
- ACLS preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Comfortable floating to other acute care units and adapting to different team workflows
- Ability to work varied/rotating shifts and maintain excellent clinical judgment
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required (Hawaii license required by assignment start)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and telemetry strip interpretation
- Progressive Care and acute care nursing principles
- Continuous cardiac monitoring best practices
- Meditech electronic charting
- Medication dispensing workflows with Pyxis
- BIPAP management and basic respiratory support
- Point-of-care testing (fingerstick blood sugar)
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
