Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, patient-centered medical-surgical and post-op cancer care for a 32-bed Med/Surg Ortho unit
- Monitor patients via central telemetry and promptly recognize and report changes in condition
- Administer and titrate drips safely (heparin, lidocaine, TPN) according to orders and protocols
- Manage IV/infusion therapy accurately and maintain meticulous documentation
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and charge nurse to ensure appropriate staffing and continuity of care
- Deliver clear, timely communication with patients, families, and team members
- Complete required unit orientation and pass the open-book skills exam (90% pass requirement)
- Adhere to unit policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy) and promote a culture of safety and professionalism
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (eligible to submit for assignment)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry preferred)
- BLS (AHA) required
- Comfortable titrating drips and managing IV/infusions (heparin, lidocaine, TPN)
- Experience with central monitoring/telemetry and reading strips as needed
- Valid driver’s license required at submittal (used for 50-mile radius rule)
- Able to work 12-hour day shifts and commit to every 3rd weekend
- Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (open-book format)
- Not currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity)
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical-surgical nursing best practices and post-op cancer care (prostatectomy, mastectomy, etc.)
- Telemetry and central monitoring interpretation and response
- Medication/drip titration protocols and safe infusion management
- IV therapy, infusion pumps, and TPN management
- Accurate clinical documentation and charting (EPIC experience noted)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and timeliness
- Ability to work collaboratively with charge nurses and supervisors
