Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and care
- Lead interview-based medical evaluations and conduct focused physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Complete clear, timely medical reports, addendums, and medical opinions required for each exam
- Review diagnostics as needed and incorporate findings into objective, defensible documentation
- Ensure non-treatment evaluations remain impartial and follow program guidance
- Coordinate with VES staff for scheduling, credentialing, and any required administrative follow up
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted medical license (state licensure appropriate to assignment locations)
- MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree)
- Specialty background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine preferred
- Experience with Compensation & Pension exams or similar non-treatment evaluations is highly desirable
- Comfort performing interview-based exams and focused physical testing (range of motion, muscle strength)
- Willingness to complete required training and onboarding promptly
- Ability to be within a 50-mile radius of the assignment location (for per diem or own-office roles as required)
Education
- MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical interviewing and documentation skills
- Proficiency with non-treatment medical evaluations and impartial reporting
- Skill in range of motion and muscle strength assessment methods
- Ability to write concise, defensible medical opinions and addendums
- Familiarity reading diagnostic reports and integrating findings into evaluations
- Comfort with quick credentialing processes and remote/onsite administrative workflows
