Physician - General Medicine (C&P Exams)
Location: Pensacola, Texas
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Per diem, 2 days per week (flexible). Option for half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours); day shifts as scheduled by VES (specific start/end times vary by assignment)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform standardized Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and empathy
- Conduct interview-based evaluations and focused physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
- Complete and submit standardized DBQs and required reporting within 48 hours of the exam
- Review medical records as needed to inform the evaluation and complete accurate findings
- Use the VES provider portal (Reach360/VES) to document exams and complete training modules
- Provide clear, objective medical opinions, addendums, and diagnostic readings when requested
- Participate in training, PEP sessions, and optional QA to ensure high-quality, consistent reporting
- Travel to other locations to assist with cases when requested and authorized
Qualifications
- Specialty background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or equivalent general medicine experience
- Active, unrestricted medical license in the state(s) where you will practice
- Comfort performing non-treatment C&P exams — no prescribing or ongoing treatment is required
- Willingness to complete VA DMA certification and VES orientation (DMA must be obtained once privileged if not already certified)
- Ability to complete DBQs and submit reports within 48 hours of exam completion
- Own personal laptop for portal work (NO MACs — Windows-based machines required)
- Familiarity with common diagnostics and ability to produce concise medical opinions and addendums
Education
- Medical degree (MD or DO) or equivalent clinical provider credential preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Interview-based exam technique and focused physical assessment skills
- Range of motion testing and use of a goniometer
- Muscle strength testing and musculoskeletal evaluation
- METs testing and evaluation of cardiovascular fitness
- Assessing and documenting respiratory and neurological conditions
- Experience with DBQs (Disability Benefits Questionnaires) and standardized form completion
- Proficiency in record review and synthesizing prior medical documentation
- Comfort using provider portals (Reach360 / VES) and following standardized reporting workflows
