Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and empathy
- Conduct comprehensive interview-based evaluations and targeted physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Complete thorough, accurate documentation and submit timely reports and addendums
- Provide clear medical opinions and review diagnostics as needed for each non-treatment exam
- Coordinate with credentialing and onboarding teams to maintain compliance and readiness
- Communicate respectfully with Veterans, focusing on clarity, dignity, and veteran-centered care
Qualifications
- Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state(s) where exams will be performed
- Clinical background in General Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Orthopedic Surgery preferred
- Experience with non-treatment exams or familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) processes is a strong plus
- Ability to perform interview-based exams and physical assessments (range of motion and muscle strength testing)
- Access to a private clinic/office within 50 miles of the listed city for OWN OFFICE assignments (or ability to meet the 50-mile radius requirement for per diem roles)
- Comfort with completing documentation, addendums, and medical opinions as part of the role
- Willingness to complete required training and onboarding prior to performing exams
Education
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with NP certification
- Relevant NP national certification and state licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled at conducting interview-based clinical assessments
- Proficient in non-treatment physical exam techniques including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Strong report-writing and documentation abilities
- Experience reading and interpreting basic diagnostics relevant to C&P exams
- Familiarity with credentialing/onboarding processes and working in a contracted provider environment
- Ability to manage time efficiently during half-day and full-day exam blocks
