Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nurse in charge
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility to promote independence and prevent falls
• Maintain clear, timely documentation of resident care and any observed changes
• Support a calm, dignified environment and advocate for resident comfort and preferences
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to follow individualized care plans
• Adhere to infection control practices and facility policies to keep residents safe

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification as required by state regulations
• Completion of an approved CNA training program
• Demonstrated compassionate approach to resident care and strong communication skills
• Ability to follow care plans, take direction from nursing staff, and document care accurately
• Basic familiarity with infection control and patient safety standards
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred where applicable

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic nursing care and activities of daily living
• Strong observational skills to notice changes in condition
• Good verbal communication and teamwork with clinical staff and families
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Comfort with electronic or paper charting systems used in long-term care
• Empathy, patience, and a positive attitude even on busy shifts
