Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and empathy
- Perform thorough patient interviews to document history and functional impact
- Complete focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Complete accurate, timely non-treatment evaluation reports and addendums
- Review diagnostics and provide clear medical opinions as part of required administrative follow-up
- Maintain meticulous documentation to support Veterans' claims and ensure compliance
- Collaborate with VES onboarding and credentialing teams to ensure smooth case flow
Qualifications
- Active Nurse Practitioner (NP/APRN) license in the state where you’ll work
- Clinical background in General Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Orthopedic Surgery preferred
- Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams is highly desirable
- Ability to conduct non-treatment evaluations (no prescribing or treatment required)
- Must be within a 50-mile radius of the listed city for per-diem roles, or have your own office within 50 miles for provider-owned-office roles
- Comfortable performing physical assessments such as ROM and muscle strength testing
- Willingness to complete required portal training and onboarding (client does not reimburse for DMA certifications or portal training prior to starting)
Education
- Master’s or Doctoral degree as an NP (MSN or DNP) or equivalent APRN education
- National NP certification in relevant specialty (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled patient interviewing and focused history-taking
- Proficient in physical assessment techniques including range of motion and strength testing
- Clear, concise medical report writing and addendum preparation
- Familiarity with non-treatment evaluation principles and medico-legal documentation
- Strong organizational skills to manage exam documentation and post-visit administrative duties
- Comfortable reading basic diagnostics and integrating findings into reports
