Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor MedSurg/Telemetry and ortho patients to deliver safe, high-quality care
• Administer medications and titrate drips (including heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) following unit protocols
• Manage PCA pumps and respond promptly to patient needs and alarms
• Document accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
• Perform hourly rounding and maintain responsiveness to improve patient experience
• Coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers to keep patient flow moving
• Use mechanical lifts and safe patient handling techniques to protect you and your patients
• Collaborate with charge nurses, tele techs and support staff to provide team-based care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Nebraska (required)
• BLS (AHA) certification required at submission
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry or ortho nursing experience
• Comfort with 12-hour shifts and flexible scheduling including nights, weekends and holiday coverage
• Driver's license required at submittal (radius rule applies)
• Ability to pass unit orientation skills exam (90% passing requirement)

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making for MedSurg and Telemetry populations
• Telemetry awareness and rhythm recognition skills
• IV drip titration experience (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine)
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Experience with PCA pumps and pain management protocols
• Teamwork, strong communication, and cultural competence for a diverse patient population
• Ability to manage a busy shift with multiple discharges/admissions
