Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and process tissue specimens by embedding and microtomy with precision
- Perform routine histology tasks including IHC and special stains to support accurate diagnoses
- Operate and maintain digital pathology systems and ensure high-quality imaging
- Accurately enter and track specimens in Epic Beaker to maintain excellent documentation
- Follow lab protocols and safety standards, contributing to a culture of quality and compliance
- Communicate effectively with the lab team and leadership to ensure smooth workflow
- Troubleshoot routine equipment issues and coordinate with technical support when needed
Qualifications
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Certified Histotechnician (HT) or Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) via ASCP required
- Minimum 2 years of histology experience required; 3 years preferred
- Familiarity with Epic Beaker (LIS/EMR) required
- Experience with digital pathology and Roche equipment a plus
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet a 60-mile radius requirement
Education
- Associate's degree preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Routine Histology: embedding and microtomy
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Special Stains
- Digital Pathology workflows and imaging
- Epic Beaker for specimen tracking and charting
- Attention to detail and strong documentation habits
- Ability to work Wednesday through Sunday schedule and cover weekend needs
