Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate primary nursing care for patients in the Progressive Care/step-down setting
• Perform continuous cardiac/telemetry monitoring and interpret telemetry strips to detect changes
• Execute fingerstick blood sugars and manage glucose as directed
• Document thoroughly and accurately using Meditech to ensure continuity of care
• Safely administer medications using Pyxis and follow medication administration policies
• Operate and monitor respiratory support when needed (BIPAP) and collaborate with respiratory therapy
• Float to other acute units (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER) as patient needs require
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and participate in patient care planning

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of assignment (you must obtain State of HI license upon acceptance if you do not already have one)
• Minimum 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• Progressive care and telemetry experience preferred
• Experience with telemetry strip reading and continuous cardiac monitoring
• Familiarity with Meditech charting and Pyxis medication systems
• ACLS preferred, current PALS preferred, NIHSS certification preferred
• Comfort floating to other acute units and adapting to varied patient populations
• Willingness to wear scrubs per unit dress code

• Telemetry monitoring and telemetry strip interpretation
• Acute care nursing and progressive/step-down patient management
• Meditech electronic charting proficiency
• Use of Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Continuous cardiac/cardiac monitoring equipment
• Basic respiratory support knowledge (BIPAP) and collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Primary nursing care practices and solid patient assessment skills
• Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced acute care setting
