Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform blood bank testing and transfusion-related procedures accurately and promptly
- Conduct type and screen, crossmatch, antibody identification and other blood bank assays
- Maintain strict quality control, documentation, and compliance with lab standards
- Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to support safe transfusion practices
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and the lab information system (Meditech experience is a plus)
- Float between College Station and Bryan campuses as needed to support patient care
- Support acute care needs in a fast-paced hospital environment while prioritizing patient safety
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience as a Medical Technologist (MT)
- Blood Bank experience REQUIRED, both basic and advanced skills
- ASCP or AMT certification required
- Meditech experience preferred
- Ability to float between College Station and Bryan campuses
- No phlebotomy required
Education
- ASCP or AMT certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of blood bank principles, transfusion medicine, and immunohematology
- Skilled in quality control, documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems, Meditech preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in testing and recordkeeping
- Clear communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with clinical staff
- Dependability for night shifts and 7 on / 7 off scheduling
