Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess communication and swallowing needs using evidence-based evaluations
- Develop individualized treatment plans that set meaningful goals
- Provide skilled therapy for speech, language, cognition, and dysphagia
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and families to support continuity of care
- Accurately document progress and recommendations in the medical record
- Educate patients and caregivers to maximize carryover and functional outcomes
Qualifications
- Valid California license or eligibility to obtain state licensure as an SLP
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
- Current CPR/Basic Life Support certification (if required by facility)
- Comfort working in a rehabilitation/contract facility setting and collaborating with a care team
- Ability to pass required background and health screenings
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment and treatment skills across speech, language, cognition, and swallowing
- Familiarity with dysphagia management and safe swallow strategies
- Experience with common evaluation tools and treatment approaches
- Solid clinical documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate care
- Ability to prioritize caseload and adapt plans to patient goals
