Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality dental care to patients in the facility, including exams, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Perform restorative procedures, extractions and other clinically indicated treatments within scope
- Maintain clear, accurate dental records and documentation for each patient encounter
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe, compliant clinical environment
- Collaborate with facility staff to coordinate patient care and ensure security procedures are observed
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
- Participate in orientation and any required facility trainings to ensure smooth integration
Qualifications
- DDS or DMD degree (or equivalent) — you know your dentistry
- Active state dental license (California license preferred or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Clinical experience providing general dentistry; correctional facility experience is a plus
- Willingness to complete required background checks and facility-specific onboarding
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work respectfully within a multidisciplinary team
Education
- DDS or DMD (Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in general dental procedures: exams, restorations, extractions and emergency care
- Familiarity with dental charting, recordkeeping and basic radiographic interpretation
- Knowledge of infection control and OSHA/CDC guidelines for dental settings
- Ability to work efficiently in a structured, security-conscious environment
- Good patient education and interpersonal skills to build rapport quickly
