Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on nursing care to residents according to individualized care plans
- Administer medications and monitor responses safely and accurately
- Perform routine assessments and document changes in condition clearly in the patient record
- Assist with activities of daily living and promote resident independence and dignity
- Collaborate with RNs, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure a safe environment for residents and staff
- Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to support person-centered care
Qualifications
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license — must be eligible to practice in Maine
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Comfortable working 12+ hour day shifts and managing medication administration
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; adaptability in a travel/contract setting
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience is a plus but not mandatory
- Up-to-date immunizations and any facility-required health screenings
Education
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program (LPN diploma or certificate)
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration and accurate medication documentation
- Vital signs monitoring and basic clinical assessments
- Familiarity with electronic health records and charting best practices
- Infection prevention and resident safety protocols
- Time management, prioritization, and the ability to work independently when needed
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
