Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on nursing care to residents in line with LPN scope of practice
- Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting per facility policy
- Perform thorough assessments and monitor vital signs, reporting changes to the care team
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff to support individualized care plans
- Maintain clear, timely charting in the electronic health record and during handoffs
- Support wound care, ADLs, and resident comfort with dignity and respect
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge planning to keep care transitions smooth
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license (able to practice in New Mexico or obtain state licensure)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background check and drug screen
- Comfortable with long day shifts and weekend schedule (Sunday, Friday, Saturday)
- Strong communication skills, dependable, and a team-focused attitude
- Preferred: prior experience in long-term care or similar inpatient settings and travel nursing experience
Education
- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN/LVN) program
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of medication administration and nursing calculations
- Skilled in patient assessment, vital signs, and basic wound care
- Proficient with documentation and basic electronic health record systems
- Infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and ability to prioritize under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
