Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients quickly and accurately to prioritize safe, effective care
• Administer medications and treatments with attention to detail and safety
• Monitor patient status and intervene or escalate concerns as needed
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams to support continuity and outcomes
• Document patient care and changes clearly in the chart to ensure seamless handoffs
• Provide patient and family education with compassion and clarity
• Advocate for patients’ needs while supporting facility standards and protocols
• Support unit workflow during admissions, discharges, and transfers

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — current active license (ability to obtain Maine licensure or valid compact license)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and other certifications a plus
• Experience in acute care or relevant clinical setting preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and medication administration skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to new teams, electronic health records, and facility protocols

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of nursing fundamentals, patient assessment, and clinical documentation
• Comfort with IV therapy, medication administration, and common inpatient procedures
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate charting practices
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to partner with clinicians and families
• Time management and prioritization to handle a busy patient load safely
