Shift Type: Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, rotating schedule with every other weekend
Hours per Week: 38
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess, plan and deliver high-quality orthopedic nursing care to post-op and recovering patients
- Perform wound care, dressing changes and suture/staple removal with attention to healing and infection prevention
- Manage indwelling devices including Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and competently
- Maintain and troubleshoot Wound VAC systems and provide related education to patients and families
- Document assessments, interventions and patient progress accurately in Cerner
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Provide patient- and family-centered education about mobility, post-op precautions and discharge planning
- Champion patient safety and mobility using lifts, walkers and other assistive devices
Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina (NC License) — required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience; orthopedic nursing experience preferred
- Comfortable using Cerner EMR for documentation and orders
- Experience with wound care, Foley catheter care, NG tube management and Wound VAC systems
- Team player with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work every other weekend
Knowledge & Skills
- Orthopedic nursing principles and post-operative care
- Wound care best practices, dressing changes and VAC therapy
- Foley catheter and NG tube management
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record
- Familiarity with patient mobility equipment (walkers, lifts, commodes)
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and prioritization skills
- Clear communication and patient education skills
