Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ conditions and deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care on Med Surg unit 5E
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely, using Baxter and Medfusion pumps
• Provide expert post-operative care, including drain management and wound care
• Monitor patients using SCDs and other unit equipment, ensuring safety and comfort
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate timely, patient-centered care
• Advocate for patients and families while maintaining the unit’s 1:6 patient ratio
• Support unit flow by prioritizing tasks, delegating appropriately, and assisting colleagues when needed

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, preferably Med Surg
• Demonstrated comfort with post-operative care, wound care, dressing changes and drain management
• Experience using Meditech EMR and familiarity with Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps and SCDs
• Able to work night shifts and thrive in a fast-paced team environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Meditech electronic medical record proficiency
• Safe operation of Baxter IV pumps and Medfusion infusion pumps
• Skilled in wound care, dressing changes and drain maintenance
• Post-operative patient assessment and care planning
• Strong communication, time management and teamwork skills
• Patient advocacy and ability to maintain a 1:6 patient ratio effectively
