Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate total nursing care for patients on Med-Surg and Acute Rehab units
• Serve as backup Charge Nurse when asked, providing leadership and clinical oversight
• Teach patients and families — explain care plans clearly and compassionately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain high standards of professional nursing practice
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner EMR and ensure safe handoffs
• Float between units within your scope of practice to meet patient care needs
• Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5) and prioritize patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Vermont RN license or Compact RN license required
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 2 years recent Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing experience (required)
• Charge RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience (at least 3 months) required
• Skills Checklist: Medical-Surgical and Supervisory checklists current to 1 year (must upload)
• Traveler must have own vehicle (no public transportation in this community); local travelers within 50 miles are not eligible
• All requested time off (RTO) must be included in your profile at submission

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and order management
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills for charge responsibilities
• Comfort and experience floating across units and adapting to different team workflows
• Excellent patient and family teaching skills with a patient-centered approach
• Solid Med-Surg and rehabilitation clinical skills and prioritization in busy settings
• Ability to work cooperatively with ancillary staff and multidisciplinary teams
