Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate total nursing care for patients across Med-Surg and Rehabilitation units
- Serve as backup Charge Nurse when needed and carry out charge responsibilities with confidence
- Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
- Lead collaboratively with ancillary staff to maintain professional nursing standards
- Use Cerner EMR to document care, manage patient information, and communicate with the care team
- Float between units as needed while maintaining safe nurse-to-patient ratios
- Participate in call-back and on-call rotations in accordance with facility policies
Qualifications
- Active Vermont RN license or Compact RN (must be uploaded with profile)
- Minimum 2 years recent Med-Surg and Rehabilitation nursing experience
- Charge RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience of at least 3 months required
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications (must be uploaded)
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle — public transport is not available in this community
- Skills checklists for Medical Surgical and Supervisory (current within 1 year) required
- BSN preferred
Education
- Active RN license (Vermont or Compact) required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR and electronic documentation workflows
- Strong clinical assessment and Med-Surg / Rehab nursing skills
- Supervisory and leadership skills for charge responsibilities
- Patient and family education techniques
- Ability to prioritize in a small community hospital with varied patient acuity
- Comfort floating to other units within scope of practice and adapting quickly
