Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose communication, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders to create meaningful baselines.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that help patients regain communication and swallowing function.
• Provide evidence-based therapy and adjust interventions based on patient progress and goals.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and family members to coordinate care and maximize outcomes.
• Document accurate, timely clinical notes and outcome measures in the facility EMR to track progress and support care continuity.
• Educate patients, families, and staff on therapy goals, techniques, and safe swallowing strategies to promote independence.

Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania Speech-Language Pathologist license or eligibility to obtain licensure in PA.
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent) — the standard professional credential.
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred but not required.
• Comfortable assessing and treating adult patients across a variety of diagnoses including dysphagia.
• Strong communication skills, clinical reasoning, and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work the facility’s coverage days (Sun-Sat rotation as scheduled).

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in standardized and non-standardized SLP assessments and treatment planning.
• Knowledgeable in dysphagia evaluation and intervention, including compensatory strategies and diet recommendations.
• Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records.
• Ability to train and coach caregivers and clinical staff in carryover strategies.
• Time management and caseload prioritization in an inpatient/rehab setting.
