Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the catheterization lab, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Assist cardiologists and interventionalists during diagnostic and therapeutic cases
• Continuously monitor patients’ hemodynamics and cardiac rhythms
• Administer medications, contrast, and sedation per protocol and physician orders
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure radiation safety throughout procedures
• Provide compassionate pre- and post-procedure patient education and support
• Accurately document procedures, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and safety checks in the lab

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Texas (or compact state eligibility as applicable)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required as listed by the facility
• Cath lab experience or relevant interventional cardiology experience preferred
• Successful completion of license/certificate verification and required skills testing
• Ability to pass required health screenings, immunizations, and drug testing

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Comfortable with telemetry, EKG interpretation, and rhythm recognition
• Familiarity with catheterization lab equipment, sterile technique, and radiation safety
• Skilled in patient assessment, medication administration, and procedural support
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical records and adherence to protocols
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to stay calm in high-acuity situations
