Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert critical care nursing for complex, high-acuity patients with compassion and precision
- Perform timely NIHSS assessments and participate in stroke care protocols as needed
- Manage advanced monitoring, titratable drips, and ventilator support in collaboration with the care team
- Respond promptly to trauma activations and assist with Level 1 and Level 2 trauma interventions
- Administer medications safely, verify orders, and maintain clear, accurate documentation
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary staff to develop and execute patient-centered plans of care
- Complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and the Trinity Skills Checklist to maintain clinical excellence
- Support a culture of safety by following infection control practices, completing required fit testing, and staying current on immunizations and screenings
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license valid in Connecticut (license/certificate verification required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- TNCC preferred
- Experience in Critical Care Nursing and Trauma Nursing preferred; Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience a plus
- Ability to pass required health screenings and background checks (fit test, immunizations, 10-panel drug screen, physical/health statement)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical care and trauma nursing knowledge
- Proficiency with NIHSS stroke assessments and related protocols
- Comfort managing hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive drips, and ventilator care
- Skilled in emergency response and trauma activation workflows
- Familiarity with Trinity-specific competency testing and skills checklists
- Clear, professional communication and accurate clinical documentation
