Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition using evidence-based practices and excellent clinical judgment
• Deliver high-quality nursing care consistent with facility protocols and specialty competencies
• Perform focused assessments such as NIHSS for stroke patients and implement timely interventions
• Lead resuscitation and emergency responses as required using ACLS and PALS skills
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, timely, patient-centered outcomes
• Document patient care clearly and accurately in the electronic health record
• Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence
• Support a culture of safety by completing required screenings, fit tests, and immunizations

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Iowa or ability to obtain Iowa licensure prior to start)
• Current BLS required; ACLS, PALS, TNCC and NIHSS certifications required as listed
• Successful License/Certificate Verification and completion of Trinity specialty competency testing
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella), and TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Current physical/health statement as part of onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Experience with trauma nursing principles (TNCC) and stroke assessment (NIHSS)
• Proficiency in ACLS and PALS protocols for adult and pediatric emergencies
• Comfortable with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced hospital environments and triage priorities
• Team-oriented mindset with professional bedside manner and patient advocacy
