Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients on admission and throughout their stay using the nursing process
- Administer IV therapy, medications, and blood products safely and accurately
- Provide timely patient education to support recovery and discharge planning
- Document nursing care, observations, teaching, and patient responses clearly and completely
- Collaborate with the emergency team to triage and manage acute presentations
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as needed
- Support the Chest Pain Center protocols and emergency workflows when applicable
- Maintain required certifications and adhere to facility policies and standards
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year previous RN experience required
- At least 1 year previous critical care or emergency nursing experience required
- Must not be a previous employee of St. Mary’s (per client requirement)
- Clean license and background checks required; travelers with license/background actions will not be accepted
- Comfortable working 12-hour day shifts in a fast-paced emergency setting
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong Emergency Nursing and critical care fundamentals
- Proficient in patient assessment and nursing process
- IV therapy, medication administration, and blood transfusion experience
- Excellent documentation and charting skills
- Ability to educate patients and families effectively
- Familiarity with Chest Pain Center workflows is a plus
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
