Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative and post-operative nursing care for cardiovascular surgery patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate changes in condition promptly
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure safe, coordinated care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
• Advocate for patients and families while providing education and emotional support
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain licensure for practice in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience (cardiovascular surgery experience strongly preferred)
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Professional communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical knowledge of cardiovascular surgery care and perioperative nursing principles
• Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring, and postoperative care
• Familiarity with sterile technique and surgical safety practices
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and bedside teaching
• Accurate clinical documentation and medication administration practices
