Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality perioperative and post-operative nursing care for cardiovascular surgery patients
- Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate changes in condition promptly
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure safe, coordinated care
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
- Advocate for patients and families while providing education and emotional support
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain licensure for practice in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience (cardiovascular surgery experience strongly preferred)
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Professional communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical knowledge of cardiovascular surgery care and perioperative nursing principles
- Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring, and postoperative care
- Familiarity with sterile technique and surgical safety practices
- Effective interdisciplinary communication and bedside teaching
- Accurate clinical documentation and medication administration practices
