Shift Type: Rotating nights including weekends, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night shift). Schedule may include mixed day/night coverage to fill staffing needs and rotating weekends.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate critical care to pediatric ICU patients, maintaining high standards of safety and family-centered care
• Manage advanced airway interventions and ventilator settings, including intubation and extubation procedures
• Administer and titrate critical drips such as sedation, vasoactive agents, and paralytics with precision
• Perform and assist with unit procedures including spinal taps, port access and discontinuation, and support sedated MRIs
• Monitor cardiac and neuro telemetry, interpret EKG/EEG findings, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech and manage medications via Pyxis
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to create and implement care plans
• Serve as a dependable team member who can prioritize tasks, multitask under pressure, and support charge nurse operations when needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; state licensure or compact privilege as required for assignment
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric ICU (PICU) nursing experience (must have)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (required)
• Demonstrated competency in ventilator management, intubation, and extubation
• Experience with Meditech EMR and Pyxis medication systems preferred
• Comfort floating to NICU, Nursery, or OB/GYN when needed
• Strong communication skills, organized approach, and ability to work a rotating night/weekend schedule

Education

• Active RN license required
• ADN or BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care principles and PICU workflows
• Ventilator management and airway care, including intubation/extubation
• Titration of sedation, vasoactive, and paralytic drips
• Telemetry, EKG, and EEG monitoring
• Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, Giraffe warmers, BiPAP and high-flow oxygen systems
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic health record and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Ability to provide family-centered care and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and multitasking skills in high-acuity settings
