Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled, compassionate emergency nursing care for patients across the lifespan
- Perform rapid patient assessment and prioritize care in a fast-paced ED environment
- Administer medications, start IVs, and manage emergent interventions safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to ensure timely, coordinated care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the electronic chart
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — must be able to practice in North Carolina (or obtain NC licensure prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-acuity situations and as part of a team
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) — current RN licensure required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong triage and rapid assessment skills in emergency care
- Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency interventions
- Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks in a busy ED setting
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with electronic charting systems and accurate documentation practices
- Calm decision-making under pressure and commitment to patient safety
