Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, compassionate emergency nursing care for patients across the lifespan
• Perform rapid patient assessment and prioritize care in a fast-paced ED environment
• Administer medications, start IVs, and manage emergent interventions safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to ensure timely, coordinated care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly in the electronic chart
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — must be able to practice in North Carolina (or obtain NC licensure prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-acuity situations and as part of a team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) — current RN licensure required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and rapid assessment skills in emergency care
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency interventions
• Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks in a busy ED setting
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electronic charting systems and accurate documentation practices
• Calm decision-making under pressure and commitment to patient safety
