Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality CVICU nursing care for critically ill cardiac patients
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status using advanced hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring
• Administer medications, titrate drips, and manage vasoactive therapies with precision
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers to optimize patient outcomes
• Lead and participate in bedside procedures and post-operative cardiac care
• Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery expectations, and post-discharge needs
• Maintain accurate, timely charting in the electronic health record and uphold unit protocols

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (must be eligible to practice in Texas)
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or cardiac ICU experience (as stated in the posting)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
• Critical care certifications such as CCRN are highly desirable
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Experience managing post-op cardiac patients and mechanical circulatory support devices
• Skilled with ventilator management and advanced airway support
• Familiarity with titratable vasoactive medications and infusion pump management
• Excellent charting/documentation skills and familiarity with common EHR systems
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented critical care environment
