Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, asthma, pneumonia and emphysema
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation (Servo I, Hamilton and similar ventilators) to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform ABG analysis and interpret results to guide therapeutic adjustments
• Administer and monitor CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizer therapy and chest physiotherapy (CPT)
• Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and collaborate with physicians and nursing staff during critical events
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes thoroughly in the Meditech EMR
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans and device use with empathy and clarity
• Contribute to a team-focused environment, participating in shift handoffs and unit initiatives

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential — required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications — required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital RRT experience — required
• Trauma experience — preferred
• Meditech EMR experience — preferred
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork and patient-centered communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator modes
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• CPAP and BiPAP setup and titration
• Nebulizer therapy and airway clearance techniques (CPT)
• Familiarity with ventilator models listed (Servo I, Hamilton, Astral, V60)
• Comfortable documenting in Meditech and collaborating in multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize high-acuity procedures and maintain composure in fast-paced situations
