Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for a high-volume ED, including trauma and stroke patients
• Perform timely triage and patient assessment to prioritize care and improve outcomes
• Lead life-saving interventions using ACLS/BLS/PALS principles and cardiac monitoring
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient flow in a busy 101-bed unit
• Coach and give real-time feedback to colleagues to maintain high standards of care
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner so care is seamless and safe
• Maintain patient boards and communication to keep patients and families informed
• Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment such as Baxter pumps and GE monitors

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ER setting (Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center experience highly desired)
• Certifications required prior to start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS (ENPC within 90 days of hire)
• Experience in high-volume ED environments (>100,000 visits) preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner and working with cardiac monitoring systems
• Team-oriented mindset with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
• Willingness to float within the ED and adapt to unit staffing needs

Education

• Registered Nurse licensure (education per state requirements — ADN or BSN as applicable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and rapid patient assessment skills
• Trauma and stroke care protocols and familiarity with stroke scales (NIHSS)
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring and emergency procedures
• Comfort with Baxter infusion pumps and GE monitoring equipment
• Excellent communication (AIDET) and patient experience focus
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, multicultural community
• Documentation proficiency in Cerner and attention to detail
