Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care and interventions for acute care patients, including assessment, treatment, and evaluation
- Manage mechanical ventilation and perform ventilator adjustments as indicated, using devices such as Servo I and Hamilton ventilators
- Perform ABG analysis and interpret results to guide clinical decisions
- Set up and manage noninvasive support including CPAP and BiPAP therapies
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EMR (Meditech)
- Participate in unit-based teamwork and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications (must have)
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care hospital RRT experience (explicit requirement)
- Experience with mechanical ventilation and ABG analysis
- Meditech EMR experience preferred by the director
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong clinical judgment
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent (typical requirement)
- Active RRT credential and state licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator modes
- ABG collection and interpretation
- Noninvasive ventilation: CPAP and BiPAP
- Familiarity with Servo I, Hamilton, V60, and Astral ventilators
- Trauma and acute care experience
- Competency with CPT airway clearance techniques
- Electronic charting in Meditech
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
