Roles & Responsibilities
- Verify, dispense, and oversee safe medication use across the inpatient setting, ensuring patients get the right meds at the right time
- Perform and supervise sterile IV compounding using Dose Edge to maintain aseptic technique and patient safety
- Dose and monitor therapeutic regimens such as vancomycin, aminoglycosides, and anticoagulants to optimize outcomes
- Manage medication verification processes, Pyxis checks, and first-dose/ emergency med box workflows
- Lead and mentor pharmacy technicians, fostering efficient and accurate pharmacy operations
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams via Meditech to support coordinated patient care
- Participate in quality improvement and medication safety initiatives to drive continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School (required)
- Licensed to practice Pharmacy in Missouri (MO) — must be active and in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant inpatient pharmacy experience preferred
- Experience with sterile IV compounding and supervising pharmacy technicians
- Proficiency with Dose Edge, Pyxis, Pak Edge and Meditech EMR
- ACLS and BLS preferred
- NICU experience is a plus and will strengthen your candidacy
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety
Education
- Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication dosing and therapeutic drug monitoring (vancomycin, aminoglycosides, anticoagulants)
- Sterile compounding best practices and aseptic technique
- Operational workflows for Pyxis, Dose Edge and Pak Edge systems
- Meditech EMR documentation and interprofessional communication
- Pharmacy laws/regulations and licensure requirements for MO
- Team leadership, supervision of technicians, and workflow optimization
- Excellent clinical judgment and problem-solving under busy inpatient conditions
