Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to psychiatric patients ages 5 and up using the nursing process
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized interdisciplinary plans of care
- Perform crisis intervention and de-escalation to keep patients and staff safe
- Evaluate patient outcomes and update care plans to support recovery and stability
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and the care team to coordinate treatment and resources
- Manage patients who require medical care or detoxification with clinical confidence
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly and promptly
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, safety, and available resources
- Contribute to a positive unit culture through teamwork, clear communication, and accountability
Qualifications
- Valid State of Maine RN license required
- Associate's degree in Nursing (2-year ADN) required
- BLS certification required and current
- CPI training must be current prior to start
- Minimum 1 year prior experience in mental health/psychiatric nursing required
- Comfort working with both pediatric and adult psychiatric patients (ages 5+)
- Ability to manage stress and make decisions under pressure
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and a strong team player
- Flexibility to provide coverage across days and weekends as the unit requires
- Not a previous employee of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center (per client requirement)
Education
- Associate's degree in Nursing (2-year ADN) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong command of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
- Patient assessment for psychiatric and medical needs
- Care planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Experience with detoxification protocols and monitoring
- Decision making under pressure and stress management
- Excellent documentation, communication, and teamwork skills
- Comfort treating a range of psychiatric diagnoses including depression, bipolar, adjustment and psychotic disorders
