Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on K9A Oncology/Women’s Surgical unit
• Administer treatments and therapies safely and according to protocol (chemo administration when certified)
• Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team
• Perform or assist with unit procedures such as pelvic exams, echoes, and thoracentesis as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
• Educate and support patients and families through treatment, recovery, and discharge planning
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection control practices, and quality/safety standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license (license RN/CNA noted as required on posting) — North Carolina licensure preferred or compact licensure where applicable
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience (posting indicates 2 years experience)
• Experience with oncology and med-surg patient care; Cerner EMR experience strongly preferred
• Chemo certification is a plus and will make your application stand out
• Comfort assisting with or performing pelvic exams, echo support, and thoracentesis

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and patient-centered oncology care
• Med-surg assessment and interventions
• Cerner electronic medical record documentation and workflows
• Safe medication administration and chemotherapy handling (if chemo-certified)
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education skills
• Ability to function effectively on overnight/nighthawk teams and manage changing acuity
