Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care and rapid patient assessment in a busy ED
- Triage patients effectively to prioritize treatment and improve outcomes
- Use Cerner for accurate, timely documentation and care coordination
- Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment such as Baxter pumps and GE monitors
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and unit staff to deliver excellent patient experience
- Coach and give real-time feedback to colleagues to support team growth and safety
- Follow stroke and trauma protocols in a Level 2 Trauma / Comprehensive Stroke Center environment
- Communicate with patients and families using AIDET principles and respectful behavior
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and a high-volume ED (preferred/required per unit needs)
- Current ACLS and BLS required before start; PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS required prior to start; ENPC within 90 days of hire
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including evenings, nights, and every other weekend
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to coach/give feedback in real time
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with varied patient acuity and occasional high patient ratios
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in triage and rapid patient assessment
- Proficient with Cerner electronic medical record documentation
- Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and GE patient monitoring systems
- Knowledge of trauma and stroke workflows and high-volume ED operations
- Strong communication skills and patient experience focus (AIDET)
- Ability to mentor peers and contribute to a collaborative unit culture
