Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour nights); schedule includes every other weekend with no on-call
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $42 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to newborns, including routine assessments and documentation
- Manage Level 2 newborn needs such as phototherapy and blood sugar monitoring with confidence
- Respond quickly and effectively to changes in newborn condition and escalate as needed
- Collaborate closely with mothers, families, and the interdisciplinary team to support mother-baby bonding and education
- Accurately document care in the EMR (Meditech/CPN) to ensure continuity and quality of care
- Maintain safe patient ratios and adhere to unit policies for infection control and newborn safety
- Participate in unit huddles and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (Registered Nurse)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant newborn/newborn nursery experience
- Current BLS required
- Current NRP required
- Mother-baby experience required (candidates without this experience will not be considered)
- Comfortable and experienced caring for Level 2 newborns (phototherapy, blood sugar monitoring)
- Experience charting in Meditech and CPN or other EMRs is a strong plus
- Warm, patient-focused demeanor — 'warm and bubbly' bedside manner fits this unit
Education
- Current RN license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Newborn care and assessment
- Level 2 newborn interventions (phototherapy, blood sugar checks)
- Meditech and CPN EMR documentation
- Neonatal resuscitation principles (NRP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and clinical escalation processes
- Family-centered care and patient education techniques
- Ability to work night shift and in a 1:5-6 patient ratio environment
