Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to progressive care and post-op surgical trauma patients
- Monitor telemetry continuously and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms
- Manage IV medication drips and titratable therapies safely and confidently
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings every 4 hours as indicated
- Provide post-procedural and post-op care for cardiac, vascular, orthopedic and neuro patients
- Collaborate with physicians, techs and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate timely patient care
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately
- Use Meditech for accurate charting and seamless handoffs
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (TX license or compact privileges recommended)
- Minimum 1 year acute care / progressive care or relevant RN experience
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- Comfortable with telemetry, IV medication management and frequent patient assessments
- Strong customer service, communication skills and teamwork mindset
- Preferred: Trauma or orthopedic experience and familiarity with Meditech
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (degree type not specified in job data)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
- IV medication and continuous drip management (heparin, amiodarone, vasopressors, etc.)
- Progressive Care Unit workflows and stepdown patient management
- Meditech electronic medical record proficiency (or ability to learn quickly)
- Thorough patient assessment skills and vital sign interpretation
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trauma/acute surgical environment
- Adaptability when floating to related service lines
