Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care across medical-surgical populations including post-op, orthopedic, bariatric, urology, and general medical patients
- Assess, monitor and document patient status using EPIC to ensure safe, accurate records
- Confirm telemetry strips and collaborate with monitor techs to interpret cardiac rhythms
- Manage respiratory supports including CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula per unit protocols
- Float between units as needed, adapting quickly to new teams and workflows
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients and families to coordinate care
- Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns to providers in a timely manner
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and travel CBO to uphold clinical standards
Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Dakota or compact state (able to submit license)
- Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS certification required
- Experience with EPIC charting strongly preferred
- Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and confirming strips
- Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and high-flow oxygen modalities
- Ability and willingness to float to different med/surg areas
- Professional communication skills and a team-first attitude
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in EPIC charting and accurate documentation
- Strong med-surg assessment skills and post-operative care knowledge
- Telemetry rhythm recognition and confirmation workflow
- Familiarity with respiratory supports: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula
- Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Comfortable following unit-specific float checklists and travel orientation procedures
- Basic familiarity with common surgical and medical diagnoses (CHF, CVA, SOB, diabetes, orthopedic cases)
