Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day shifts 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (3 shifts/week) and Night shifts 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (3 shifts/week); 4-on/3-off rotation with every-other weekend coverage (minimum 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period)
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $71 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, family-centered pediatric cardiovascular ICU nursing care for neonates through adolescents and appropriate adult patients
- Monitor and interpret hemodynamics and dysrhythmias, and manage cardiac-related emergencies
- Manage ventilated patients, assist with intubation, and provide tracheostomy and chest tube care
- Administer complex therapies including IV vasopressors, blood/blood products, TPN and other critical meds with pediatric dosage accuracy
- Perform advanced line care: central lines, PICC, arterial lines and central line blood draws
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT, social work) to develop and execute patient plans
- Document care accurately in Epic and participate in unit quality and infection control initiatives
- Mentor and support colleagues, float to other UCSF facilities as needed, and contribute to a culture of safety and learning
Qualifications
- Active CA RN license (required)
- AHA BLS and PALS required
- ACLS preferred
- Minimum 3 years pediatric CVICU experience (3-5 years preferred); will consider 5 years pediatric ICU experience in lieu of PED CVICU
- Experience with Epic or similar charting systems required
- Ability to float to other UCSF facilities as needed
- COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required per facility guideline (medical/religious exemptions only)
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and high-flow nasal cannula care
- Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line/PICC/arterial line management
- Administration of blood and blood products, pediatric dosage calculations
- Tracheostomy care, chest tube management, assist/manage intubation
- Experience with ECMO, VADs, heart transplant care, and post-cardiac surgery patients (preferred)
- Strong infection control practices, procedural sedation monitoring, and emergency medication administration
