Roles & Responsibilities

• Obtain 12‑lead EKGs and perform timely phlebotomy to support rapid diagnosis and treatment
• Assist clinicians with procedures—suture/immobilization support, splinting, reductions, and airway assistance
• Provide compassionate care across the lifespan (neonate through older adult), including feeding and ambulation assistance
• Manage behavioral emergencies safely and support application of restraints when needed according to policy
• Follow strict infection control practices, including donning/removing PPE and isolation precautions
• Accurately label and transport specimens and document care in Epic
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition and abnormal/normal vital signs to the care team
• Support post‑mortem care respectfully and professionally when required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Phlebotomy) to keep patient flow moving

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification (required)
• Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ER) experience (required)
• Experience in a Trauma Level II environment (required)
• Familiarity with Epic charting (required)
• Comfortable working in a rural or community hospital setting (preferred)
• Competence with core ER procedures and equipment: 12‑lead ECGs, phlebotomy, glucometer, splinting, suturing, glide scope assist (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong situational awareness in a busy ED with variable daily census
• Ability to recognize and report changes in patient condition quickly
• Knowledge of infection control practices and PPE protocols
• Skill with age-specific competencies from neonate through older adult
• Proficient with basic emergency equipment and specimen handling
• Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with nurses, physicians and support services
