Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures including left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, stent placement, and angioplasty
- Provide expert care during electrophysiology procedures: device insertions, changeouts, AICD/programming and cardioversions
- Manage and monitor mechanical circulatory support and specialized devices such as Impella, IABP and temporary pacers
- Monitor hemodynamics, obtain and interpret 12-lead ECGs, and manage dysrhythmias and emergency medications
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation and reversal agents while ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RT, PT, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response) to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
- Participate in the on-call rotation and provide timely response for emergent cath lab cases
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Cath Lab RN experience (explicit requirement)
- Active Ohio state nursing license (required)
- ACLS (required) and BLS (required)
- Epic EHR experience (required) — comfortable with charting and documentation workflows
- CCI RCIS certification preferred
- Previous charge or leadership experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Willingness to participate in call rotation (one night/week and every 4th weekend)
Education
- Active RN license in Ohio (required)
- Nursing degree (Associate's or Bachelor's) — BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac cath lab procedures, including diagnostic catheterizations and Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
- Electrophysiology procedures, pacemaker and ICD management, and cardioversion
- Experience with mechanical support devices and monitors: Impella, IABP, temp pacer, IVUS, FFR, DFR
- Vascular access skills: sheath removal, vascular closure systems, PICC care, central line assistance
- Monitoring procedural sedation, administering emergency meds and vasopressors, and interpreting dysrhythmias
- Proficiency with Epic charting, documentation, and unit workflows
- Familiarity with End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, ACT, and infection prevention practices
