Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care for cardiac, vascular and transplant surgeries, ensuring patient safety at every step
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the OR team to coordinate complex cases
• Maintain accurate and timely EPIC documentation for all perioperative care and charting
• Participate in shared on-call rotation and respond promptly to emergent cases and code situations
• Support unit readiness by preparing equipment, validating supplies and ensuring sterile technique
• Mentor and support colleagues in high-acuity cardiac and vascular procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years OR experience with at least 2 years dedicated to cardiac and vascular care (hard stop)
• At least 1 year of CVOR experience
• Experience working in a Level I Trauma facility (1 year required)
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS are preferred
• EPIC charting experience is required
• Comfort with complex cardiac and vascular procedures including CABG, TAVR, EVAR and LVAD/RVAD cases
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative skills in CVOR and General OR environments
• Familiarity with cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular and transplant procedures
• Experience with cardiac assist devices and advanced hemodynamic support such as IABP and LVAD/RVAD
• Comfort with endovascular procedures including TEVAR and EVAR
• Robotics experience including Da Vinci systems is a plus
• Proficient in EPIC electronic charting and perioperative documentation
• Ability to respond to codes, malignant hyperthermia and other emergency management protocols
• Good infection control, specimen handling and universal protocol (time out) skills
