Shift Type: 3x12-hour nights per week (schedule varies), 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM NOC; every other weekend; holiday coverage required
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients
- Safely manage and titrate insulin and heparin drips per protocol
- Perform cardiac monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias and initiate appropriate interventions
- Deliver wound care including Wound Vac dressing changes and manage peripheral lines
- Utilize EPIC and unit systems (PYXIS, SBAR) for accurate documentation and communication
- Serve as charge nurse on night shifts when assigned, coordinating patient care and resources
- Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols to maintain patient and staff safety
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, PT, pharmacy and rapid response
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for practice in North Carolina (or compact RN where applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
- EPIC experience required for documentation and medication workflows
- BCLS (BLS) certification required prior to start
- Previous charge nurse experience required for night travelers (preferred in any capacity)
- Comfortable managing insulin and heparin drips and performing dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Must be able to work holidays, float as needed, and be part of Inclement Weather/Storm Teams
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Med/Surg patient care and general medical-surgical nursing principles
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response with dysrhythmia interpretation
- IV therapy, phlebotomy and peripheral line care/management
- Experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and high flow oxygen therapies
- Wound care including Wound Vac dressing changes
- Proficiency with EPIC, PYXIS medication systems and SBAR communication
- Infection control, isolation precautions and PPE best practices
- Ability to work independently and lead as charge nurse during night shifts
