Shift Type: Rotating nights, 3x12-hour nights per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; exact days vary with posted schedule (posted every 6 weeks); every other weekend and holidays as needed

Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, high-risk labor and delivery nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity unit
- Serve as the Baby Nurse during deliveries: perform newborn assessments, administer Vitamin K and eye care, and support neonatal transition
- Circulate for C-sections, assist in the OR, and support post-anesthesia recovery
- Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings with electronic fetal monitoring and intervene appropriately for abnormal patterns
- Administer and manage medications and infusions including insulin drips, heparin, magnesium sulfate, and oxytocin
- Start and maintain IVs, manage pain control (including PCA and nitrous oxide), and support epidural/general anesthesia processes
- Document care thoroughly in EPIC and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
- Provide postpartum and lactation support and education to families for safe transitions home
- Float between postpartum and antepartum units and assist sister facilities as needed to meet patient needs
- Participate in clinical reviews, maintain required certifications, and provide supervisory references when requested
Qualifications
- Active RN license required; compact license is accepted at Swedish facilities
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-acuity, high-pace Labor & Delivery setting required; 5+ years high-risk experience strongly preferred
- Previous travel nurse experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Current BLS and NRP required; ACLS and AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate preferred
- Must provide current supervisory references and proof of required certifications; NURSYS verification required
- Demonstrated ability to circulate for C-sections and provide newborn care including Vitamin K and eye prophylaxis
Knowledge & Skills
- EPIC charting and electronic fetal monitoring proficiency
- Neonatal resuscitation skills and newborn thermoregulation
- Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- High-risk labor & delivery management including hemorrhage and multiple births
- IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion management (insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, anticoagulation)
- C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum assistance, and amnioinfusion support
- Postpartum care, breastfeeding/lactation support, and couplet care
- Use of PCA, nitrous oxide, and familiarity with epidural and general anesthesia processes
- Strong teamwork, communication, and rapid response collaboration skills
