Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (D/N possible); Primary schedule: Night 3x12, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; specific days vary based on unit needs (may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care for adult and geriatric MICU patients, including those with ARDS, sepsis, and oncologic emergencies
- Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator weaning, including interpretation of arterial blood gases and ventilator adjustments
- Perform and maintain invasive monitoring: arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheters, and cardiac monitoring
- Deliver renal support therapies including CRRT and manage patients with chronic/acute renal failure
- Start and maintain IV access, administer blood products, and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips safely
- Monitor and respond to dysrhythmias, lead emergency responses, and participate in rapid response teams
- Care for patients with complex devices and procedures (chest tubes, central/PICC lines, EVD when applicable)
- Use EPIC for comprehensive charting and documentation, ensuring accuracy and continuity of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT, radiology, social work) to coordinate complex care plans
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years critical care/MICU experience (must meet experience requirements within the last 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass)
- Travel/contract experience required; no first-time travelers accepted for this role
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS (NIH) required
- Proven experience with ventilator management and IV starts
- EPIC charting experience required
- Comfort managing a 1:2 patient ratio in a high-acuity environment
- Ability to safely titrate vasoactive drips, manage continuous IV sedation, and perform procedural sedation monitoring
- Familiarity with CRRT and NxStage machines is strongly preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
- Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation (arterial lines, PA catheters)
- CRRT (including NxStage) and renal failure management
- ABG interpretation and respiratory support: HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- IV therapy, IV starts, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE best practices
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records and Alaris IV pumps
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, interdisciplinary teams
