Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures and pulmonary diagnostic testing safely and accurately
• Assess patients’ respiratory status and develop individualized care plans
• Implement treatment plans, including ventilator management and airway support, following provider orders
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and timely
• Provide patient and family education on respiratory care, equipment, and disease management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and transitions of care
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensuring infection control and safety standards
• Serve as Lead RCP when assigned — coordinate the section or department during your shift
• Participate in competency testing and continuing education to maintain clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from NBRC required or to be obtained within three months of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA or ARC required and must be maintained
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from AHA or ARC required and must be maintained
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from AHA required upon hire or obtained within 60 days
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificate preferred
• Two years of acute care experience preferred
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with pulmonary diagnostic procedures

Education

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Respiratory Therapy or related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in respiratory therapeutic procedures and pulmonary diagnostics
• Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Skilled in care planning, treatment implementation, and clinical documentation
• Competent in life support protocols: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Experience with ventilator management and airway support
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Leadership capability to function as Lead RCP when assigned
• Comfort with competency testing and skills checklists
