Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Day shift (2x8-hour; flexible weekdays, no weekends or UC holidays)

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for infants and pediatric patients with endocrine and diabetes diagnoses
- Deliver focused pediatric diabetes education to patients and families, empowering self-management
- Perform thorough patient assessments, obtain vitals and interpret findings to guide care
- Administer medications and immunizations safely and document in Epic/charting systems
- Initiate and manage IV access when needed and support urgent medication administration
- Conduct point-of-care testing including blood glucose and HBA1C, and interpret results
- Obtain 12-lead EKGs, perform hearing and vision screenings, and complete routine clinic procedures
- Coordinate care through authorization forms, insurance verification and pharmacy communications
- Perform telephone triage, follow-up calls and medication refill coordination to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including social services and interpretation services to meet patient needs
Qualifications
- BSN required
- Active California RN license (CA RN License) required
- AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years pediatric nursing experience including pediatric diabetes education and experience with diabetes medications
- Charting experience in Epic (required)
- Ability and willingness to float to other UCSF facilities as needed
- Preferred: 1 year ambulatory care experience
- COVID-19 vaccine and booster required per facility guidelines (medical/religious exemptions only)
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric assessment and age‑appropriate communication
- Pediatric diabetes education and blood glucose monitoring
- Point-of-care testing (POCT HBA1C) and glucometer use
- Medication administration and reconciliation
- Epic/charting system proficiency
- 12-lead EKG acquisition and interpretation basics
- Starting IVs and basic emergency medication administration
- Immunizations, hearing & vision screening, and growth measurements
- Insurance authorization, verification and office workflow
- Telephone triage, patient teaching and follow-up care coordination
